2007 Military BAH

In determining child support in Tennessee and Kentucky, the parent that is awarded custody receives child support from the non-custodial parent for the benefit of the children.  Calculating the applicable amount of child support that will be ordered, unless the court deviates from the child support guidelines, starts with determining the income of the parent who must pay the child support.  When the parent that will pay child support is a military service member, the starting point for calculating support is the service member's base pay.  While the base pay itself does not constitute the actual amount of support, it is an integral component in the calculation.  To assist with determining the income available to soldiers for child support purposes, the 2007 military pay chart may be found on this site.

In addition to base pay, other benefits received by military service members such as basic allowance housing ("BAH") also are considered as income for child support calculations.  The following 2007 charts for Tennessee and Kentucky list the BAH benefits available for soldier with dependents.  The amount of BAH benefits to be paid is determined by analysis of the cost of living/housing in your area.  If your specific location is not listed below, please contact us for more information.

*Active duty military members are paid twice per month, on the 1st and the 15th of each month. If "payday" falls on a weekend or holiday, they are paid on the duty day preceding the weekend or holiday. For example, if the 15th of the month falls on Sunday, the member would be paid on Friday. Because the below chart shows MONTHLY pay, the member would receive 1/2 of this on each payday.

*For the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, and the Sergeant Major of the Army and Marine Corps (the highest ranking enlisted positions of each service), basic pay is $6499.60.
