Richard Batson was born in Clarksville, Tennessee.

He graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1951, and received his JD, in 1954, from Vanderbilt University.

Richard is a member of the Montgomery County (President, 1965) and Tennessee Bar Associations; International Association of Defense Counsel; Defense Research Institute and Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association.  He is licensed in Tennessee.
