Dan Nolan was born in Nashville, Tennessee.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1964, and received his JD from the University of Tennessee in 1966.

He is a member of Montgomery County Bar Association (President, 1974); Tennessee Bar Association (Vice-President, 1981-1982), Board of Governors (1982-1994), Vice President (1995-1996, President Elect (1996-1997), President (1997-1998), Immediate Past President (1998-1999); Federal and American Bar Associations; Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association; International Association of Defense Counsel; American Board of Trial Advocates; Hearing Committee for State of Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility (1991-1995); American College of Trial Lawyers.

Dan is a Certified Civil Trial Specialist, and is certified as a Civil Trial Advocacy Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
